Other Jenn is in charge of getting these posts uploaded.

So expect them on about the same schedule she checks the email.

And she counts it as an offering to Odin that she suffers from them not being in order.

There is an abundance of additional resources throughout the U.K. that can be found on their official website. (*Other Jenn gives a side eye glare at the U.S. for not having this much in place.)

Original Gen has a dog. Ergo she sees ads online for things a dog owner might purchase. Including dog toys. Like this one.

It’s a squeak toy for dogs. Allegedly. PUPtron Tequila Silver. Sure. Whatever you say. If you see a Patron bottle, you’re a better person than The Gals. We all saw something entirely different. But you would be disappointed if we didn’t, right? Want one of your own? It’s on Amazon (NOT an affiliate link).

Of course this is getting knocked over! Read more about it here.

Episode #077

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 77 - Swanning Around.

Trigger warning! If you are one of our regular listeners, you know we don’t hold back much. However, the images from this episode might be potentially disturbing for some as this myth deals with the topic of rape. While that topic is prevalent in mythology, and nothing new to our discussions, these images do get more graphic than usual. Other Jenn is angry that this particular myth is so widely covered in historical artwork, and by some damn big names. But that’s a topic for a whole different podcast.

We start with…. Helen Over-Easy! coughcoughCaitsJokecoughcough

Helen hatching from the egg, Apulian red-figure bell krater C4th B.C., Bari Provincial Archaeological Museum

Leda and the Swan, Apulian red-figure loutrophoros C4th B.C., The J. Paul Getty Museum

Leda and the Swan, Greco-Roman mosaic C3rd A.D., Cyprus Museum

Leda and the Swan, Greco-Roman mosaic from Spain

Roman oil lamp, 1st century AD. Say it with us: F*ck the Romans!

Leda and the Swan, Roman marble possibly reflecting a lost work by Timotheos; restored (Predo).

Leda and the Swan, ancient fresco from Pompeii.

Leda and the Swan, a 16th-century copy after a lost painting by Michelangelo (National Gallery, London)

Leda and the Swan, copy by Cesare da Sesto after a lost original by Leonardo, 1515–1520, Oil on canvas, Wilton House, England.

Wait a minute. How many swans were there? Other Jenn didn’t see these extra swans until posting this image here in larger format! Cait has some explaining to do.

Leda and the Swan by Correggio.

Leda and the Swan by François Boucher, 1740, oil on canvas.

Leda and the Swan, by Massimiliano Soldani, 1725

Leda and the Swan by Fernando Botero, 1996

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 76 - Stupid Stonehenge Update; A Mini-Sode.

We encourage you to listen to Episode 74 first. This is a follow-up to that episode.

Spoiler Warning!

The image below reveals “Whodunnit”.

Lieutenant Fenrir says, “If you don’t want to know, don’t scroll.”

Isn’t he the cutest thing ever?

Here’s the obituary Cait reads from.

We know that’s difficult to read. So here’s a link to the original.

And the letter to the editor.

Again, not easy to read here. This was found on the newspapers.com website.

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 75.

In an unexpected plot twist, Cait did not include any images in the notes this week. However, if you are curious what hollyhocks look like, here are the very ones she grew from seeds.

Catch a glimpse in the very back of the garage she has been painting.

And just because, here’s a daffodil picture.

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 74 - Set in Stone… or Nah.

Cait starts us off with a legit TO SCALE map.

Courtesy of Google maps.

And then zooms in with satellite imagery, still to scale.

See the rural surroundings. Again, from Google maps.

A little closer and Other Jenn gets excited about the rows and rows.

Thank you, Google maps, for giving us such satisfying images.

We finally get an image of these stones.

Of course, we don’t have anything in the picture Cait chose to give us scale, like a person for example.

Then Cait found a bunch of images of vandalism over on Reddit.

CAPTION AND LINKS

If you dare, here is the link to the video Cait tempted Other Jenn with.

Then we get an aerial image post-explosion from a WYFF helicopter.

The images you hear us talking about in Episodes 46 & 47 - The Adventures of Hangry Thor.

It’s a 2-parter from Original Gen. And that leads to Cait trolling the episode notes with unrelated images.

Who remembers the interactive mini-game on the web, The Joesterizer - Frog in a Blender?

If you have the necessary Flash player, you can play the game here.

If you don’t have the Flash player, here’s a video summary of what happens.

Original Gen shared with us a picture of the tissue box home for the injured lizard. Cait couldn’t leave well enough alone.

Cait continues to bring it.

She then finds gems from the internet and posts them in the notes.

We start with a map. With labels. Made by Cait.

A larger and higher quality map can be found here.

A chart just for Other Jenn.

We hear about “breathing ice”. Here are links to a couple short videos on loop that give an idea what it looks like.

And some still images.

Episode #071

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 71 - Hot Drunk News.

Hot Drunk News is where Cait shares the articles that her algorithm throws at her with relativity to real-world places and events during the time the myths originated. Her favorite part of these recordings is making Other Jenn wait to scroll through the notes so the pictures are not spoiled. The reward is authentic reactions.

A view of Hadrian's Wall showing its length and height. The upright stones on top of it are modern, to deter people from walking on it. (Wikipedia)

Also, if you would like to look at the picture with the lovely music Kim trolls us with, here’s a link to Edvard Grieg’s Morning Mood. (Do you think Kim chose this because Grieg was Norwegian, just to annoy Cait?)

And then Cait drops an ancient dick pic. face palm

And this is the man that will go into the history books for finding an ancient dick pic!

According to Cait, people survived the Pompeii volcano explosion. But all she has are pictures of people who did NOT survive.

PHOTO: NOTIZIE DEGLI SCAVI DI ANTICHITA, 1934, P. 286, FIG. 10.

Moving on to non-skeleton remains, Other Jenn is thrilled with grid patterns.

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 72 - It’s Never Aliens.

A shipwreck older than Fenrir. And a ridiculous number of images. Starting with a map that is indeed to scale.

A tiny island known as Antikythera, courtesy of Google maps.

Discovered by sponge divers in 1900.

A boat full of sponge divers.

A diver from the olden days.

Old diving gear.

Smile for the camera!

The crew from 1901.

What the ship may have looked like.

Red-slip tableware.

Dishes from the wreckage.

Glass bowls

Modern-looking colorful bowl.

Swirly colored bowl.

Other Jenn likes this green bowl most.

Peacock bowl?

A couch!

Cait, are you sure this is a couch?

This couch needs cushions.

Wine jugs?

Wine amphorae. But with pointy bottoms?

Jewelry!

Statues. Sorta.

Where is his body, Cait? WHERE IS HIS BODY?

A horse is a horse of course.

And the grand finale…

It’s an orrery! Other Jenn doesn’t know what an orrery is, but it sure looks cool.

Parts from the shipwreck.

Other side of the piece from the shipwreck

And we have computer-generated renderings of what it would look like.

The front face.

The back panel.

UCL Engineering experts went further.

The inside of the mechanism.

With the panels.

And then it’s Cait’s turn to go one step further. With a chart. Just for Other Jenn.

Other Jenn resists the strong pull to study the graph and learn its secrets.

Jenn thinks this can’t get any better. Silly girl.

Episodes #028 - 030

The images you hear us talking about in Episodes 28, 29, and 30 - Olympics.

Yup, it’s a multi-part series from Cait.

Other Jenn isn’t even embarrassed she didn’t know where the Olympics started.

Cait gives us a “model” that’s such poor quality we can’t read the writing to determine where she found it. We aren’t even sure this image is what she claims.

If someone can track down where on the internet Cait lifted this image, send us a message. We’ll send you one of Other Jenn’s very own gold star stickers!

In the final part of the series, episode 30, we get an image of a chariot race from the movie Ben Hur.

And if you’ve heard the rumor about a stunt person dying during filming this scene, find the truth here.

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 44 - Worst Tourists Ever.

After telling us what runestones are, and explaining that they range in sizes from small enough to fit in your pocket (3 inches circumference) to the quite large 59 feet (18 m) circumference stone pictured below.

Turns out the location of this stone is called Ed, not the stone itself as Cait thought. Here’s the link to Wikipedia where she found it.

The words on some of these stones are quite comical, such as this one that seems to be the ancient equivalent of “Mike was here.”

Not everything was brought home. Some items were marked up and left where they were found. The original graffiti artists?

Episode #041

Images we talk about in Episode 41.

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 41 - When You Pi$$ Off A God.

For an episode with just Original Gen and Other Jenn, you weren’t expecting any images, right? Surprise! Better than images from our notes, we’re sharing the first merchandise unboxing video for the pint glass. Other Jenn is in FULL DORK MODE! You have been warned. (Pardon the incredibly novice-level filming. Lessons have been learned.) Below the video, you’ll find images of the glass as it goes through the dishwasher. Want your own merch? Click here, or the link at the top of the page.

Isn’t Fenrir just so stinkin’ cute!

After the first trip through the dishwasher, we find some cloudiness.

We have basic pint glasses we use every day. They are just like this, minus the images. They do not have this cloudiness after the dishwasher.

Another view after the first dishwasher run.

Notice that I am having to hold the glass at a certain angle against the light in order to capture the cloudiness.

After three trips through the dishwasher, the cloudiness is still there, and a little more significant.

Still having to hold it at an angle at the light to capture it.

After five trips through the dishwasher, the cloudiness does not seem to have become any more significant. And as the above images show, the glass has to be held at a certain angle to observe it. Just sitting on my desk, full of tepid water, or empty, I can’t even tell.

Fenrir is still just as cute as in the unboxing video.

Get yours here!

The images you hear us talking about in Episode 43 - Learner’s Permit Gone Bad.

As Original Gen is drowning in Norsevember activities, Cait decides to find a Nordic connection to a Greek topic. The thread is thin, but at least it is pretty: Baltic Amber.

Cait’s source

Yellow not your color? There’s a color-changing variety that turns vibrant blue, found exclusively in a small region of the planet.

Send us an email for instructions on making blue amber offerings to Professor Cait. Cait’s source.

Check it out! Cait gave us a map with labels!

Looks like a good itinerary for a field trip. Cait’s source.

Cait finally teases us with an actual Norse myth involving amber, but then makes a hairpin turn and drives head-on into the Greek myth of Phaethon which includes a painting of what was probably the very first teenage driver accident.

If you would like to see the full uncensored image, Wikipedia has it here. Thank you, Fenrir, for keeping this image rated E.

And for anyone else curious about the distance between Rome and Pompei, Other Jenn has a bonus image for you here. Look at the colors. Look at the labels. The distance is roughly 150 miles or 241 Kilometers. By commercial airplane, we are looking at approximately 50 minutes. Driving a vehicle within legal speed limits will take approximately 2 1/2 hours, but you’ll have some toll booths. If you choose to avoid tolls, you will be adding approximately 1 1/2 hours, but it will take you along the coastline which could potentially provide some breathtaking views making the extra time worthwhile. (And I’ll bet 5 Pompeian goats that you’ll spend more on fuel than you save on tolls. But, again, might be worth it. And that’s your call.)

You’re welcome. #Ravenclaw
